Privacy Policy
Dating takes trust. Here's exactly what Good Love collects, why we need it, and how you stay in control of it.
Last updated October 9, 2026
The short version
- We collect what it takes to match you, verify you're real, and get you to a date safely.
- Your ID and selfie check is handled by Persona. We get the result, not a copy of your ID.
- Card details go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted ads.
- Other members see your profile, not your last name, email, or phone.
- You can download or delete your data any time by emailing us.
Who we are
Good Love is a dating app for adults 18 and over that matches people one-on-one and then brings them together on double and group dates. The app and website at goodlove.app are operated by Good Love LLC, a New York limited liability company (“Good Love,” “we,” “us”).
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers the Good Love app, our website, and our waitlist. It works together with our Terms of Service.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your first name, email address, and password or sign-in method.
- Profile: your photos, birthdate (we show your age, not your birthdate), gender, who you'd like to meet, neighborhood, bio, interests, and your preferred check-in style.
- Verification: a photo of your government ID and a live selfie, collected and checked by our partner Persona (see ID and selfie verification).
- Messages: your one-on-one chats and the table chats for dates you've booked.
- Dates and events: the events you book, join the waitlist for, or cancel, places you choose with “Plan your own,” your check-ins, and your private “continue” or “close kindly” decisions after a date.
- Accountability: attendance answers (“Did they show up?”), no-show and late-cancellation records, disputes, and appeals, including anything you tell us to explain an emergency.
- Safety reports: reports and blocks you make, and what you tell us about them.
- Waitlist: your first name, email, and the neighborhood you choose.
- Support: anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage: device type, browser, app version, approximate location from your IP address, crash logs, and which screens and features you use.
- Notifications: a device token if you turn on notifications, so we can reach your phone.
- Local storage: small files your browser saves to keep you signed in and remember settings. We don't use advertising cookies.
Information from partners
- Persona: whether your verification passed, and the basic details needed to confirm you are 18+ and that your profile matches your ID.
- Stripe: your subscription status, plan, renewal dates, and the last four digits and brand of your card. Stripe keeps the full card number, not us.
- Google Maps: the name, address, and map location of places picked in the app.
Sensitive information. Some of what you share on a dating app can reveal your sexual orientation, and your verification involves biometric information. We use it only to run Good Love as described here, and we don't use it for advertising.
We don't track your precise location in the background. Good Love uses your chosen neighborhood and the places attached to your dates.
ID and selfie verification
To keep Good Love made up of real adults, members verify before they match or book a date. Verification is run by Persona Identities, Inc., which compares your ID photo to a live selfie. This comparison creates a face geometry template, which is biometric information.
- Purpose: only to confirm that you are a real person, that you are 18 or older, and that your photos are of you.
- Who holds it: Persona collects and processes your ID images, selfie, and face geometry on our behalf. Good Love receives the result and limited details from your ID, such as your name and birthdate, and does not keep your ID images or face geometry in our own systems.
- Consent: we ask for your written consent in the app before verification starts. You can decline, but you won't be able to match or book dates.
- No selling: we never sell, lease, trade, or profit from biometric information, and we don't share it with anyone except Persona and as required by law.
- Retention: we instruct Persona to delete your ID images, selfie, and face geometry within [30 days] after your verification is complete. In every case, biometric information is permanently destroyed when the purpose of collecting it has been met, or within 3 years of your last interaction with Good Love, whichever comes first.
Verification confirms identity and age. It is not a criminal background check. Learn more about how Persona handles data at withpersona.com.
How we use it
- To run Good Love: creating your account, showing you potential matches, delivering likes and messages, booking dates, managing waitlists, and sending the day-before details.
- To keep people safe: verifying members, reviewing reports, blocking and removing accounts that break our rules, and preventing fraud, fake accounts, and spam.
- To keep our promises: running the accountability system, including no-show records, booking pauses, disputes, appeals, and gentle nudges when a connection goes quiet.
- To handle payments: starting, renewing, and cancelling Premium through Stripe, and sending receipts.
- To talk to you: account and safety messages, date reminders, waitlist updates, and, if you opt in, news about launches and events. You can unsubscribe from marketing any time.
- To improve the app: fixing bugs, understanding which features help people meet, and planning new neighborhoods and venues.
- To follow the law: responding to valid legal requests and enforcing our Terms.
We may review messages when they're reported, when our systems flag likely spam or abuse, or when needed to investigate a safety issue. We don't read your messages otherwise.
What other members see
| Who | What they can see |
|---|---|
| Members browsing | Your first name, age, photos, neighborhood, bio, interests, and verified badge. |
| Your matches | Your profile and your messages with them. |
| People at your table | Your first name and profile, and what you post in that table's chat. |
| Venues | The reservation name, which is “Good Love” plus the first names of the members at the table, and the party size. |
Other members never see your last name, email, phone number, ID, or birthdate. After a date, you each choose privately. If you choose “continue,” your date finds out only if they choose it too. If you pause or close kindly, your date is told, so nobody is left wondering. Your accountability record is visible only to you and our team.
Anything you share with another member can be screenshotted or shared by them, so share personal details only when you're comfortable.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove your profile from Good Love right away and delete your data within 30 days, except as listed below.
- Messages: deleted with your account. Messages you sent remain visible to the people you sent them to only until their conversation with you is removed.
- Safety and accountability records: kept for up to [2 years] after account deletion so people removed for safety reasons can't simply rejoin, and to resolve disputes.
- Payment records: kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, usually 7 years.
- Biometric information: as described in ID and selfie verification.
- Waitlist: until you join, unsubscribe, or ask us to delete it.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, or get a copy to take elsewhere.
- Correct information that's wrong. Most profile details you can edit yourself in the app.
- Delete your account and information. You can do this in the app under Profile, or by emailing us.
- Withdraw consent for verification or notifications, and unsubscribe from marketing.
- Appeal a decision we make about your request.
Email hello@goodlove.app from the address on your account, and we'll respond within 30 days, or sooner if your state's law requires it. We may need to confirm it's you first. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. Residents of states such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Washington may have additional rights under their state laws, and we honor those where they apply.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls that limit our team to what they need, server-side rules that control who can read each piece of data, and providers that meet strong security standards. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away at hello@goodlove.app if you think your account has been compromised. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as required by law.
Adults only
Good Love is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we'll close it and delete their information. If you believe a minor is using Good Love, email hello@goodlove.app.
Where your data lives
Good Love is based in New York and currently serves members in the United States. Your information is stored and processed in the United States by us and our service providers.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as Good Love grows. When we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we'll update the date at the top of this page.
